Architects and Owners may not always be thinking in terms of grit and the corresponding level of gloss on a surface, but should you?
Perhaps not. The RA (Roughness Average) is the measurable level of surface refinement and can be specified. The means to achieve this however, can vary, and you can reach the desired levels without using the standard grits. Another thing to take into consideration is that using the same grit on two different floors will not alway achieve the same result. A traditional Ground, Honed, and Polished floor can be achieved or surpassed using a Green Umbrella™ Green Cut System, with fewer abrasives. Thinking in terms of RA, even when choosing grits can help in meeting the expectations of owners and architects. Our goal at Green Umbrella™ has always been to cut your Labor, your Downtime, and your Environmental Impact, so we've created a new line of abrasives marked by RA instead of grit. For more information on the GC Abrasive System and more about RA and Meters, see below.
